This one-of-a-kind, intricately designed "Pandora"-style Art Doll is a perfect collector's item and museum piece. The doll was entirely handcrafted (no machine sewing) using repurposed, pale-blue fabric and white lace trimmings.
The overdress of the figurine is draped over an authentic oil painting of the Madonna & Child, a work which was inspired by a 17th century painting in the collection of the Monastery of the Augustines, here in Quebec City.
The head of the art doll was hand sculpted in clay, and then delicately painted in acrylics. Her dark, chocolate-brown hair is wefted mohair, and is coiffed using an elaborate headdress in late 18th century style.
Please note that this Art Doll is on loan to a museum, but that I do continue to accept commission work.
